7 - Hiding in Plain Sight

“I didn’t physically leave until I was 17 but this happened when I was 16. My breaking point in choosing to no longer blindly believe what my priests and parents told me to believe was when I knew in my heart that I was a bisexual, no one else knew and it was 2015 when same-sex marriages became federally legal and the priest told the congregation to write/call our Senators and Representatives to stand up and fight against the legalization, it was scary to hear this from people that I was meant to trust and look to for guidance made me feel so alone. In a church full of people I felt like I had a target on me for the first time ever. I finally decided being Catholic was not for me.” -Taylor
